Hi,

HOW TO SELECT MULTIVITAMIN FOR YOU

Multivitamins are said to be combinations of vitamins and minerals that can be used as dietary supplements. They are usually made up of a combination of 3 or more vitamins and minerals in doses that are tolerable when taken and will not cause any discomforts. Before we go into the burning subject of selecting the best multivitamin for you, let’s first answer the question of why we do even need it.

Do we really need Multivitamins supplements?

Medical research certainly gives us the confidence to declare that multivitamins are not only essential for health, but can really help to prolong life.

Most of the vitamins and minerals that we need come from food sources, and can be freely obtained in nature.

However it has been proven that our lifestyles, eating habits, and the nature and composition of our foods today (when compared to food that was grown about 50 years ago have less vitamins and minerals) means that the amount of vitamins and minerals we are taking today in food is far less than in should, even in those that are eating right.

Therefore we need a means to supplement this intake in order to maintain our health.

Selecting the right multivitamins

The number of different brands and composition in any pharmacy or health food store makes it a bit daunting to make choices when it comes to choosing the right multivitamins. However here are a few pointers to take you to the right direction;

-Check first to make sure that the essential vitamins are contained in the composition in the right doses. The essential vitamins are vitamins A, C, D, and E.

-Check also to make sure that full range of B complex vitamins is represented. They have been proven to be implicated in effective nerve function, energy production and have been known to boost the immune system. They include; Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, Niacin, Folic acid, Biotin, and pantothenic acid.

-Make sure the essential minerals are rightly represented. They include; Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, Chromium, Copper and Manganese.

-Make sure that they have the right amounts of antioxidants. These include; Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Lycopene, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Green tee extract, Ginko Biloba, CoEnzyme Q10, Resveatrol and Quercetin.

Besides making sure that they contain the right composition of vitamins and minerals, also making sure that they have been prepared following the right standards is essential. This is because those that come from other countries or uncontrolled sources might not be of the same standards as are required by the FDA.

Therefore make sure that you check to see if the company manufacturing the multivitamin is certified to do so under FDA standards and guidelines.
